targets. These teams clone, express and purify
related families of protein targets across
multiple therapeutic areas to gain insights
into their function. X-ray crystallography
and computational modeling are used to define
the three-dimensional structures of these
proteins. Utilizing this structural information,
chemists can design and synthesize new analogs
of lead compounds that are likely to have
a better fit with the target protein and improved
